WikiLeaks will reopen its online drop box Monday, after Julian Assange said he “reengineered [it] from scratch.” The website has not accepted submissions from potential whistleblowers for a year, as Assange said the site needed “mechanisms that are necessary to deal with an attack on the entire Internet security system that has been established over the past few years by intelligence agencies and criminal groups ... It is not possible to trust any regular Web-based encryption system.” It’s unclear, however, how the site will be received; Assange said just last month that WikiLeaks was in need of millions of dollars in donations.
