Wikileaks Source Arrested
Intel analyst said to leak classified video.
Federal officials arrested SPC Bradley Manning, 22, for allegedly giving Wikileaks, the anonymous whistle-blower site, a classified video of soldiers killing two Reuters reporters and an unarmed man in 2007 in Baghdad. Wired.com reports that Manning, a U.S. army intelligence analyst, was discovered after he told a former hacker, Adrian Lamo, over email and instant messenger of his involvement with the leak, but the FBI has declined to comment. Manning also told Lamo he has leaked hundreds of thousands of classified army cables, a video of a 2009 air strike in Afghanistan, and a classified army document calling Wikileaks a security threat. “Hillary Clinton, and several thousand diplomats around the world are going to have a heart attack when they wake up one morning, and find an entire repository of classified foreign policy is available, in searchable format, to the public,” Manning wrote to Lamo. He was reportedly arrested nearly two weeks ago in Afghanistan and is being held in Kuwait, where he is awaiting formal charges.
