Hackers often carry out cyberattacks as a show of solidarity with WikiLeaks, but WikiLeaks itself was attacked on Tuesday. “WikiLeaks.org is presently under attack,” read an announcement on the group’s Twitter page, which is believed to be administered directly by Julian Assange. The group’s website crashed after it began the accelerated publication of tens of thousands of diplomatic cables that might expose diplomatic sources. The actual content of the cable is not exactly new: media outlets have had access to the cables for months, and a source tells Reuters that Assange is “frustrated” that media interest in the cables has relaxed.
