Wildfire Closes Southern Calif. Highways

CALIF. BURNING

Hundreds of acres burned.

Parts of two California highways were closed early Saturday due to a wildfire that has burned almost one thousand acres and prompted mandatory evacuations. The highways—U.S. Highway 101 and the Pacific Coast Highway—were closed off in Ventura County near Solimar Beach, a community about 70 miles west of downtown L.A.
