The contestants on Simon Cowell’s American X-Factor may sound a lot better than their counterparts on American Idol—and there will be a good reason why. On Monday, a U.K. X-Factor spokesman sparked controversy when he admitted that the show uses auto-tune, or vocal tweaking, to improve their performances. And now, fans are wondering if the show will bring its enhancement policies stateside. Said the X-Factor spokesman: “The judges make their decisions at the auditions stage based on what hey hear on the day, live in the arena.” Regardless, the show will stand to see if the land of the brave accepts this kind of “reinforcement.”
