A good story in the Daily Mail this morning reminding us that Prince William is able to access a multi-million pound fortune from next month, when he turns 30, because he wil be allowed to break into a lump sum from Diana's will.
Diana's will was made public after her death. She left an estate of £12,966,022 after inheritance tax of £8,502,330 was deducted.
The Mail speculates that the fund may have grown to £20m, and therefore concludes that William could be entitled to as much as £10m, and speculates that William and Kate might use the money to buy a home close to Prince Charles’ Highgrove retreat
In truth, William is unlikely to start raiding the capital from his mother's will, as the bequest can be and almost certainly will be 'varied' to allow Harry a greater share of the capital - in recognition of the fact that William will inherit a massive income from the Duchy of Cornwall when his father becomes King, and Harry will not.
It would be unlike William not to do the right thing.
