William Nearly Falls Playing Polo

William was playing polo yesterday - and nearly had a nasty fall.

The heir to the throne was competing in the Audi challenge in Chester yesterday and nearly came a cropper when attempting to play a particularly tight ball.

He had to use his mallet to push himself back on board his polo pony, according to a report in today's Daily Express.

Un-fun fact: Polo is generally reckoned to be one of the most dangerous sports in the world.Says Jack Kidd, brother of Jodie and Gemma: "The horses are smashing into your legs, there’s sticks flying all over and the ball is made of a solid plastic composite – a very hard ball. Look at my lip – I lost all my front teeth from a ball in the face… and a few mallets in the mouth have left my lips a bit of a mess. You spend a lot of time in hospital when you play polo. It’s one of the top three most dangerous sports in the world."

Yes, polo is the sport of kings, but with the birth of his sprog around the corner, Kate might prefer William to take up something less dangerous, like speedboat racing or hang gliding.
