Willow Smith Signs Record Deal With Jay-Z

Precocious

Jay-Z signs 9-year-old Willow.

Someone needs to brush her shoulders off: Nine-year-old Willow Smith, daughter of actors Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith, has just signed with Jay-Z's record label Roc Nation for her debut album. "I heard the record first before I knew that it was recorded by a 9-year-old and I was like, man that record's a smash," the rapper told Ryan Seacrest on his radio show, referring to Willow's recent overnight sensation "Whip My Hair." The single garnered 100,000 hits on YouTube in a single day after it was released. Jay-Z likened Willow to Michael Jackson and said, "She has a child's innocence but she has a clear vision of who she is and who she wants to be." But is Willow too young to launch a serious career in music? "When you have that sort of talent, there is no such thing as too young," Jay-Z said.
