Weddings amongst small groups of friends where partners have been mixed and matched over they years as the ideal couplings are sought can always be a little awkward, and so it was for William and Kate at the weekend when they attended the wedding of Kate's pal Alice St John Webster this weekend in a Somerset village.
For among the 300 guests were a number of their former partners.
The guests of the bride and groom included Prince William's former girlfriends Rose Farquhar and Olivia Hunt, while Kate's former partners included Willem Marx and Henry Ropner.
Farquhar, 28 a singer, performed at the ceremony. She briefly dated Wills after he finished school in 2000. Blonde Olivia Hunt, also 28, had a a brief fling with the Prince before he met Kate at university.
More awkwardly, Henry Ropner, who attended the wedding with his wife Natasha, dated Kate for a while after she split up with Wills in 2007 and Marx was Kate's first boyfriend. Pippa was also present - without Alex Loudon or George Percy.
At the wedding Kate wore her favourite nude LK Bennett shoes but opted for a Beulah blossom print silk chiffon dress, while her sister turned to her favourite designer Alice Temperley in the £380 pink and black embroidered shirt dress.A source told the Sun: “A lot of water has passed under the relationship bridge. But it was quite funny that Wills and Kate had to spend the afternoon with four old flames at the same time. It was like a scene from Four Weddings And A Funeral.”
