‘Winter Vomiting Disease’ on the Rise

32 confirmed outbreaks in California.

Norovirus, which Californians have taken to calling “the winter vomiting disease,” has had at least 32 confirmed outbreaks in the state since Oct. 1, CBS News in Sacramento reported. Hospitals, nursing homes, schools, cruise ships and restaurants are all environments in which the illness can spread rapidly, officials said, adding that it can spread through direct contact with an infected person and consuming infected substances.
