WNBA’s Brittney Griner Arrested

For alleged assault.

Phoenix Mercury player Brittney Griner, 24, was arrested Wednesday for assault and disorderly conduct after she and her fiancee, fellow WNBA player Glory Johnson, reportedly got into a fight at their home near Phoenix. Both Griner and Johnson were booked and later released from Maricopa County Jail in downtown Phoenix. "They will continue to work through these hardships together and ask that the media respect their privacy as they handle this family matter," Griner's attorney said in a statement. "Glory and Brittney sincerely apologize for the distraction this has caused their families, respective teams, the WNBA, sponsors and fans."
