Woman Dies After Getting Caught in Baggage Conveyor Belt at Chicago Airport

A woman was killed after being caught in a baggage conveyor belt system at Chicago-O’Hare International Airport on Thursday morning, ABC 7 Chicago reported, citing local authorities. The victim, who has not yet been identified, was a 57-year-old woman who was not an employee of the airport or an airline. The woman was seen on security camera footage going into a restricted part of the baggage area around 2:30 a.m., the Chicago Police Department said. Her body was eventually discovered “pinned in machinery” at the baggage area around 7:45 a.m., the Chicago Fire Department said. She was pronounced dead at the scene. It is still unclear what she was doing in the five hours she was unaccounted for, police said. The incident is still under investigation.
