It only took 41 years for a woman to win a Nobel Prize for economics, but American Elinor Ostrom lived the dream Monday, along with Oliver Williamson. Ostrom and Williamson both won for their "analysis of economic governance," according to a statement by The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. Ostrom demonstrated how groups could successfully manage common property, while Williamson won for his theory on how business firms can serve as structures for conflict resolution. It's been a noble, prize-winning season for women; Oster is the fifth one to win this year.
