No laughing matter: The female staff of The Daily Show have written an open letter defending their workplace after the blog Jezebel ran a post accusing the program of sexism. “Dear People Who Don’t Work Here,” it begins, and it goes on to point out that women make up 40 percent of the staff. “While it may cause a big stir to seize on the bitter rantings of ex-employees and ignore what current staff say about working at The Daily Show, it's not fair,” the women write. “It's not fair to us, it's not fair to Jon.” The post on Jezebel specifically criticized The Daily Show’s dearth of female on-air correspondents.
