Woods Pulls Out of British Open

Don’t expect Tiger to come roaring back in Britain. The onetime No. 1 golfer announced Tuesday that he’ll skip the British Open next week at Royal St. George’s in England. Woods is trying to recover from the grave public-relations wound he incurred when he was revealed to have cheated on his then-wife with multiple women, but he’s been hobbled by a bum Achilles’ heel and left knee. He skipped the U.S. Open in June for the same reason, and he says he won’t play again until he’s fully recovered. Woods says he hasn’t hit a ball in two months. The next major will be the PGA Championship in August. Woods’s plans for that tournament are unclear.
