A hotel worker earning minimum wage was fired by her employer after being interviewed by TheWashington Post last month. Shanna Tippen had told the Post she was eager to get a $0.25 pay hike thanks to the state of Arkansas raising the minimum wage because it would help her buy diapers for her grandson. The 43-year-old woman said she was fired by Days Inn manager Herry Patel, because he told her she “was stupid and dumb for talking.” Patel had told the Post in the original story that the wage increase was “bad for Arkansas.”
