What do you get a man who has lived during three centuries? Guests at a birthday party for Walter Breuning had to answer that question Tuesday, as he turned 114 years old. Breuning, believed to be the world’s oldest man, was born in Minnesota on Sept. 21, 1896, and moved to Montana in 1918, where he worked for the Great Northern Railway for 50 years. Bruening, who currently lives in a Great Falls, Montana, retirement community, says he drinks plenty of water, limits himself to two meals a day, and keeps mentally active by listening to the radio. He gave a speech at his birthday party—attended by the governor as well as representatives from the Guinness Book of World Records—and said, “this world has changed many times… and to get the most out of life, enjoy what we have accomplished.”
