The woman considered to be the world’s oldest person, Jeralean Talley, died in Michigan on Wednesday just a month after her 116th birthday. Talley had recently been hospitalized and treated for fluid in her lungs, according to her daughter, Thelma Holloway. Holloway said that whenever people asked her mother how it felt to be the oldest person in the world, Talley would reply, “I still feel the same. That’s God’s work, not mine.” The second-oldest person, according to the Los Angeles-based Gerontology Research Group, is Susannah Jones of Brooklyn. She turns 116 in July.
