Wreckage from a plane that went missing last month while carrying an English Premier League soccer player was found Sunday, according to a marine scientist involved in search efforts. “The families of Emiliano Sala and David Ibbotson have been notified by Police,” the scientist, David Mearns, announced on Twitter. “Tonight our sole thoughts are with the families and friends of Emiliano and David,” he said. Mearns, who was reportedly hired by the Argentine soccer player’s family, said the wreckage was discovered by the vessel FPV Morven during search operations off the island of Guernsey. The UK's Air Accidents Investigation Branch confirmed that the wreckage was found, CNN reports. Sala, 28, had recently signed with English Premier League club Cardiff City and was flying back to the UK after saying goodbye to former teammates in France when his plane disappeared. Ibbotson, 59, was flying the single turbine Piper Malibu plane from Nantes when it lost contact.
