Good news for ancient Greeks: the flagship sport of the Olympics isn't going anywhere soon. On Sunday, the International Olympic Committee voted on which of the sports it had shortlisted for elimination would get to stay. And to no one's surprise, wrestling was the runaway winner with nearly half the votes, 49 (softball earned 24 and squash 22). After the sport was shortlisted in February, wrestling's governing body elected a new president, involved more women in significant roles, and altered the rules to make it easier to understand. So maybe it's not the same wrestling that was enjoyed at the ancient Olympics. But we welcome it back all the same.
