It’s official: On Friday, Wyclef Jean was deemed ineligible by Haiti’s provisional electoral council to run in the presidential election there in November. This news comes a day after a councilmember said the celebrity singer-songwriter did not fully meet the requirements—most notably, the fact that he doesn’t have a primary residence in Haiti. Thirty-four contenders, including Jean, filed documents to run for the Haitian presidency this month. Jean has accepted the findings, and has urged his followers to "keep the faith."
