Yemen’s mission to the United Nations asked for international ground invention Wednesday to help local supporters of President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi battle off Houthi rebels after weeks of war. In a letter to the UN Security Council, Yemen’s ambassador urged “the international community to quickly intervene by land forces to save Yemen, especially Aden and Taiz.” The letter also called on human-rights groups to document the “barbaric violations against a defenseless population.” Nearly 120 people were killed in clashes Wednesday, including 40 civilians who were attempting to flee fighting in Aden.
