Fighting resumed in Yemen’s capital city of Sanaa on Sunday after a three-day truce expired. The ceasefire allowed for much-needed humanitarian aid. Saudi Arabia, which resumed its bombing campaign on Sunday, is backing the Yemeni government in the 19-month civil war, while Iran is supporting the Houthi rebels. The government accused the rebels of “deliberately thwart[ing]” the ceasefire and being unwilling to accept a peace deal. United Nations efforts to extend the truce failed.
