Hopes for a breakthrough in the four-year conflict in Yemen were given a boost Monday after the Saudi-led military coalition that backs the former government said 50 wounded Houthi fighters in Yemen’s rebel-held capital, Sanaa, will be evacuated to Muscat, Oman, for treatment on Monday. The Saudi coalition called the move a “confidence-building” measure before planned peace talks in Sweden. The United Nations says at least 10,000 people have been killed in Yemen since 2015, when Houthi rebels overthrew the then-government. The Saudi-led alliance seeking to restore the former government has been sharply criticized for widespread bombing of civilian areas.
