Mario Testino Receives Honorary OBE from the Queen: Hail Mario! The famed fashion photographer Mario Testino has been awarded an honorary OBE from the Queen of England. The 58-year-old Peruvian-born photographer has photographed many members of the royal family, including the late Diana, Princess of Wales just months before her death in 1997, and, most recently, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge for their official engagement photos. Kim Jung Un Imported $645.8 Million in Luxury Products Last Year: Kim Jung Un reportedly imported a staggering $645.8 million in luxury products to North Korea last year. According to a report published by the South Korean government, the imports included furs, pets, and mid-sized sedans. “The products were given as gifts to key figures in North Korean society to ensure their loyalty to the regime,” lawmaker Yoon Sang-hyun said, listing imports of alcoholic beverages at $30 million and watches at $8.2 million. Prada Launches Art Project in Qatar: In collaboration with artist Damien Hirst and Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al-Thani, chair of the Qatar Museums Authority, Prada has begun an unusual project in the desert north of Qatar. Known as The “Prada Oasis and Damien Hirst’s Pharmacy Juice Bar,” the joint initiative is set in a large Bedouin tent which has been transformed into a pharmacy. Met Gala Tickets Climb to $25K: The most exclusive fashion event of the year, The Met Gala, will now be even more of a members-only event. It has been announced that tickets for the “Oscars of Fashion” have risen from $15,000 to $25,000 this year. The Gala, held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 5, will be chaired by Aerin Lauder.
