Australian ‘Egg Boy’ to Donate Money Raised for Legal Defense to New Zealand Victims
GOOD EGG
The 17-year-old Australian boy who was arrested for cracking an egg over the head of an Australian senator says he will donate money raised through a GoFundMe campaign to the victims of the New Zealand mosque shooting. Will Connolly, better known as “Egg Boy,” was tackled to the ground and arrested after egging Australian politician Fraser Anning over the weekend. Connolly reacted to the senator’s comments in which he blamed Muslims for the New Zealand attacks. “Don’t egg politicians,” he wrote on the video posting that has since gone viral, according to the New Zealand Herald. “You get tackled by 30 bogans at the same time. I learnt the hard way.” Supporters raised nearly $30,000 for the teen’s legal defense against charges, but Connolly says he will donate most of that to the victims of last week’s attacks. “This was the moment I felt so proud to exist as a human being,” he tweeted. “Let me inform all you guys, Muslims are not terrorists and terrorism has no religion. All those who consider Muslims a terrorist community have empty heads like Anning.”
