The big publishers’ ultimate goal is to turn e-books into assets that libraries and schools can only rent, and never own. The stakes couldn’t be higher.
Jennie Rose Halperin is the Executive Director of Library Futures. She is focused on growing the organization and its reach and fostering a culture of open, inclusive leadership to support equitable library policy, technology, community, and advocacy. She has a background in open knowledge and publishing and has worked with a variety of organizations including Harvard Law School Library, Creative Commons, O'Reilly Media, Internews, PubPub, and Mozilla. A committed civic activist and volunteer, she was chosen for Boston Mayor Marty Walsh's SPARK Cohort for Millennial Leaders in 2018, and her work on the commons was awarded a Public Space Invitational Grant in 2019.
