An Ohio police officer has been fired by his department after publicly cheering on the suicide of a prominent Ohio Black Lives Matter activist. Fairborn Police Officer Lee Cyr reportedly wrote "Love a happy ending" on the "Ohio Politics" Facebook page two days after MarShawn M. McCarrel II, a well-known local activist, shot and killed himself on the steps of the Ohio Statehouse. Cyr was previously placed on paid leave while the department investigated his social media posting. “[Cyr's] action is in violation of the department’s social media policy and does not conform to the Professional Standards & Core Values established by the organization," the department said via official statement.
