Donald Trump Jr. has indicated he and wife Bettina, 39, are trying to have children.
At a Turning Point USA event at the University of Iowa on Thursday night, Trump, 48, claimed he was in politics for purely selfless reasons.
“Because you guys are the future. I’m not doing this for me. I can retire tomorrow and lead a great life. I stay in the game because I’m doing it for my five young kids and however many more Bettina can crank out,” he said.

The wife-as-baby-factory image he conjured was followed up with a warning about the possibility of living in a dystopia post-midterms.

“I can’t leave them a dystopian, communist hellhole,” he said. “And I know a little bit about dystopian communist hellholes because my mother escaped one.”

His mother Ivana, who died in 2022, grew up in the Soviet Union, in the industrial city of Zlin, in what is now the Czech Republic.
Don Jr. married Palm Beach socialite Bettina Anderson in May, with a lavish three-day ceremony in the Bahamas, notably not attended by President Donald Trump.

A previous image Bettina Trump shared of her wedding on May 22, "on a tiny island, in a tiny chapel, with our family beside us."
The eldest Trump son was previously engaged to scandal-plagued U.S. ambassador Kimberly Guilfoyle, after ending his first marriage to Vanessa Trump, with whom he had five children.
Guilfoyle, the former wife of California Gov. Gavin Newsom, and Don Jr. got together in 2018. They were engaged for four years, until rumors about Bettina and Don Jr. began to circulate in the summer of 2024.
In private texts released this week from that time, Guilfoyle responded to the rumors by suggesting that tabloid reporting on the pair had been planted by Bettina because she was a friend of Vanessa Trump.

Guilfoyle, whose messages feature a light background, raged about Anderson, according to Deters, whose message is in blue.
Eric Deters
Eric Deters, a former associate of Guilfoyle, released the texts as part of a tranche of documents alleging she had asked for large sums of money to provide access to the Trump family and help him avoid IRS and Justice Department inquiries.
“That’s his ex-wife’s friend. It’s all lies, but she’s a cloud [sic] chasing horror,” Guilfoyle allegedly wrote of Anderson.
Deters, a former lawyer and congressional candidate in Kentucky, confirmed to the Daily Beast that the messages were real, but Guilfoyle’s lawyer disputed their authenticity.
“What a c--t,” Deters replied to Guilfoyle.
“Yeah, she literally sent the Daily Mail bikini photographs of her to try to include in the article,” Guilfoyle allegedly replied, agreeing with Deter’s foul-mouthed insult.

Guilfoyle, 57, and Don Jr.’s split became public in December 2024, but Guilfoyle remained a favorite in the president’s circles, and was appointed ambassador to Greece in 2025.
At the Turning Point event Thursday, Trump Jr. engaged in a bit of damage control for his father’s administration in the run-up to the midterms, telling attendees that the messaging around the cost of gas and groceries hadn’t been handled well.
“Don’t talk down on people who are upset about costs. I know what’s going on with gas prices right now. I get that. I understand,” the billionaire scion of the Trump family said.
“I’m still going to fill up my truck. I’ve been blessed to be successful in that way. But I get it. I understand the pain a lot of people feel.”
Since retaking office, Trump, 80, and his children, have been greatly enriched, while the cost of living and the price of gas has skyrocketed.
The president’s approval rating has plummeted to record lows, and the GOP is bracing for a blue wave in the midterms, possibly losing control of the House and Senate.
Donald Trump Jr. did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
