As the Ebola virus continues to spread and kill in the Democratic Republic of Congo, U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres will travel to the epicenter of the outbreak. He plans to visit an Ebola treatment center in the North Kivu province during a three-day trip that starts Aug. 31. Nearly 2,000 people have died during the current outbreak in Congo, where efforts to drive out the virus have been hampered by a civil war and distrust of medical workers.
