Former President George H.W. Bush has been moved out of intensive care at Houston Methodist Hospital and into a regular room, where he’s expected to stay for “several more days” according to a statement. “He is alert, and talking with hospital staff, family and friends, and his doctors are very pleased with his progress,” the statement read. It added that the former president “is more focused on the Houston Rockets closing out their playoffs series against the Minnesota Timberwolves than anything that landed him in the hospital.” Bush was taken to the hospital on Monday for a blood infection. His longtime wife and former first lady Barbara Bush died on April 17.
