I've been brilliantly assisted first at FrumForum and now here at The Daily Beast by Noah Kristula-Green. Now Noah is moving on to the next phase of his great adventure, and I'm in the market for a new deputy. Here's the mission:
I am looking for someone with the imagination and creativity to enhance the appeal and interest of this blog. The job includes writing lively headlines, choosing eye-catching art, devising exciting new features, extending our reach through social media, fact-checking my Newsweek pieces, and contributing content under your own byline. There's a certain amount of backstage technical work to do, but the position is mostly editorial.
Backgrounds in journalism are strongly preferred, but I'm more interested in your ideas, skills, originality, enthusiasm, and commitment than in your resume. I leave it to you how to demonstrate those things. Job is located in DC; pay is sufficient to support life here.
I have 3 questions for applicants that I'd ask you to answer in no more than a 1-page covering letter:
1) Why do you want this job?
2) How would you improve my blog?
3) How has your experience prepared you for this position?
Please email your letter and resume to: editor[at]frumforum.com
