AGRI, TURKIYE - MAY 01: A view of high-altitude Balik Lake in Agri, which resembles 'Antarctica' in May with its ice-covered surface and snowy mountain scenery in Agri, Turkiye on May 01, 2026. Located in the region where Sinek Plateau and Aras Mountains are situated in the north of Taslicay district, at an altitude of 2,241 meters above sea level, Balik Lake stands out with its natural beauties. The lake, which is among the important tourism centers of the Eastern Anatolia Region with its bird and fish species and islands, was completely covered with ice during the harsh winter season. Beautiful images emerged when the surface of the natural wonder lake, which is covered with ice for half of the year, did not thaw in May. The lake, whose ice melted in early April in previous years, offers winter-like landscapes with the surrounding snowy mountains. (Photo by Abdullah Soylemez/Anadolu via Getty Images)
