The GOP senator has been criss-crossing North Carolina to remind voters about Cal Cunningham’s sexting scandal. If public polling is any indication, the strategy isn’t working.
Trump administration officials just keeping showing up where they can be uniquely helpful in a contentious election year.
“What the fuck can you do with $28 million in Montana?” asked one aide, referencing Gov. Steve Bullock’s huge fundraising total for his race against Sen. Steve Daines (R-MT).
They seemed to be playing nice on the confirmation hearing’s third day, but from Kamala Harris to Lindsey Graham, they were looking for campaign attention—and dollars.
“I hope [Cal] Cunningham keeps his damn pants zipped. Bottom line, [Thom] Tillis is worse for my state and country than a man who listened to his other brain,” said one NC donor.
But activists vow that their voices will be heard no matter what.
In 2014, the North Carolina Republican called Obamacare a “cancer.” Six years later, he’s copying the law for his own bill.
