Lorne Michaels-Produced Chris Farley Biopic Casts Its Lead
REMEMBER WHEN?
A Chris Farley biopic is coming to the big screen with the help of Saturday Night Live boss Lorne Michaels, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Michaels will produce the film under his Broadway Video banner, with Josh Gad directing and Emmy winner Paul Walter Hauser starring as Farley. The screenplay will be written by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber, who previously penned the films (500) Days of Summer and The Disaster Artist. The late SNL alum appeared on the show alongside Adam Sandler and David Spade and went on to star in successful comedy films like Tommy Boy and Beverly Hills Ninja, before dying in 1997 of a drug addiction at just 33 years old. Playing Farley had long been a dream role for Hauser, who told The Daily Beast in 2022, “No one alive will do or can do what I would do with that part. And that doesn’t mean they’re not talented or good. It just means if that movie is getting made, I’m the guy.”
