Luke Perry’s teenage daughter Sophie, has posted a heartfelt message on Instagram mourning her father’s passing and thanking his fans and her friends for their support and positive messages.
Sophie, 18, raced back from a volunteer placement in the tiny African country of Malawi to be by her dad’s side as he died.
“A lot has happened in this past week for me. Everything is happening so fast,” she wrote on Instagram. “I made it back from Malawi just in time to be here with my family, And in the past 24 hours I have received an overwhelming amount of love and support. I cannot individually respond to the hundreds of beautiful and heartfelt messages, but I see them, and appreciate you all for sending positivity to my family and I. I’m not really sure what to say or do in this situation, it’s something you aren’t ever given a lesson on how to handle, especially when it’s all happening in the public eye. So bear with me and know that I am grateful for all the love. Just, being grateful quietly.”
Sophie is working as a volunteer for the nonprofit One World Center, and previously appealed for fundraising for the charity, saying; “We’re going to be there for six months, and we’re going to be working on community development projects. These can range from teaching teachers, building schools, helping with agriculture, providing water purification, all types of good stuff.”
The former Beverly Hills, 90210 and Riverdale star’s other child, son Jack, 21, who is a pro-wrestler known by the stage name ‘Jungle Boy’ will not be taking part in a show next week in Los Angeles.
“Unfortunately Jungle Boy will no longer be wrestling at our March 13th show,” promoters said, “Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family at this time.”
Luke Perry died on Monday at the age of 52, five days after suffering a massive stroke at his California home. The actor’s family and friends were by his side in his final moments.
