Jennifer Hudson’s outing to a basketball game this week may have gotten a bit too real.
The singer was sat court-side at a New York Knicks game Tuesday night beside her boyfriend rapper Common, when a basketball flung from the court and appeared to hit her on the head.
Knicks player Miles McBride attempted to grab the ball as it was hurling forward, but failed to catch it, prompting Common to reach his hand out instead to try and block the ball from hitting Hudson.
The Dreamgirls star appeared frazzled after the incident and swiftly tried to adjust her glasses. McBride was seemingly quick to apologize as the accident was unfolding.
A representative for Hudson did not immediately respond to the Daily Beast’s request for comment.
Having been friends for years, Hudson and Common first sparked dating rumors in 2022 when working alongside each other on the film Breathe. The rapper proceeded to subtly confirm his relationship with Hudson on her show The Jennifer Hudson Show in 2024, when he alluded to being in a relationship with “the most beautiful” person he’s ever met.
The couple regularly attend basketball games together, often being pictured court-side at Lakers games and beyond.
In a 2024 interview with People magazine, the Oscar winner divulged some details on her relationship with the rapper telling the outlet, “He’s very passionate about everything he’s into.
“He leads with the heart, and I lead with the heart in everything that I do as well,” she continued.
