Officials: Hurricane Michael Killed at Least 16 People in Florida Alone

Officials announced Tuesday that 16 people have died in Florida due to Hurricane Michael, according to the Associated Press. Florida officials reportedly did not elaborate on “how the victims’ deaths were storm-related,” but did say 12 of those deaths occurred in Bay County, which reportedly took a “direct hit” from the hurricane. According to the Associated Press, 10 others have died in Virginia, Georgia, and North Carolina as a result of the storm. The hurricane caused massive damage to seaside locations like Bay County and Mexico Beach. Florida’s Tyndall Air Force Base was reportedly annihilated in the storm and was forced to cease operations as the Northern and North American Aerospace Defense Command.
