Olympic medalist Ryan Lochte was suspended for 14 months by the United States Anti-Doping Agency after posting a photo on social media featuring him taking vitamins through an IV, according to Sports Illustrated. Lochte was not using a banned substance in the photo, but anti-doping rules do not permit the use of an IV “unless related to a hospitalization or through an exemption.” “I wasn't taking anything illegal. Everything was legal. You can get it at CVS, Walgreens, but there are rules, and you have to obey them,” Lochte said in a press conference Monday. While Lochte is suspended until July 2019 and will miss the national and world championships, he says he still plans on training for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. This is the second time Lochte has been banned in less than two years. He was previously suspended for 10 months after he lied about getting robbed at gunpoint at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics.
