U.S. swimmer Ryan Lochte has been given a 10-month suspension for his “over-exaggerated” robbery story during the Rio Olympics. Lochte will not be allowed to resume swimming until mid-2017, and will also be banned from the World Championships in Budapest next year. Lochte, who boasts 12 Olympic medals, has suffered a public fall from grace following revelations that he lied about being robbed at gunpoint in Rio to cover up his own drunken misbehavior on a night out. Lochte was charged by Brazilian police last month for making a false report over the claim. He has since lost several sponsorship deals over his robbery story.
