The Mitt Romney tax plan proposed to cut taxes for the very rich and offset those tax cuts with tax increases for the merely rich. I wrote about this tension just before the election.
The issue has not gone away with the Romney defeat. People at the bottom edge of the top 1% will be much more affected by changes in tax deductions than by changes in tax rates.
