Trump, 80, Self-Soothes as Nobel Committee Hurts His Feelings

Donald Trump has tried to make himself feel better by resharing a fawning post from a MAGA lawyer claiming he should have won this year’s Nobel Peace Prize.
Soon after the prestigious honor was awarded to Navanethem “Navi” Pillay, a former U.N. human rights chief and judge at the International Court of Justice, the 80-year-old president shared a Truth Social post from David Schoen, one of the lead attorneys during Trump’s second impeachment trial.
In his post, Schoen claimed that the Nobel Committee “shamed itself beyond repair and demeaned the once great Nobel Peace Prize” by awarding it to Pillay—who oversaw a U.N. report accusing Israel of committing genocide in Gaza—instead of Trump, who is currently fighting a war in Iran with no end in sight.

David Schoen even tagged Trump in his post, hoping the president would see it.

“She has no credibility in any normal sphere and has never done a thing to foster peace. Just the opposite,” Schoen added. “But what could be expected from a committee that previously gave the once coveted peace prize to Yasser Arafat?

“President Trump gave us the Abraham Accords, which the world said would be impossible and is now expanding them! He brought home the hostages when all seemed hopeless! He is making best efforts to end the Russia/Ukraine war, to stop Iran, the number one sponsor of international terrorism, and he is trying to rebuild Gaza despite the terrorists’ best efforts to control it. The list goes on and on,” Schoen added.

“These are the kinds of things the Nobel Peace Prize was intended to recognize and reward!!!”

As well as representing the president, Schoen was former Trump strategist Steve Bannon’s lawyer during his contempt-of-Congress trial, in which Bannon was found guilty and sentenced to four months in prison.
Schoen was also in line to represent pedophile Jeffrey Epstein after he was charged with federal sex trafficking charges, but the disgraced financier took his own life in August 2019 before he could face trial.
Trump has made no secret of his desire to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, often citing the dubious claim that he ended eight wars since returning to the White House.
Last year’s winner, Venezuelan democracy campaigner María Corina Machado, announced that she would hand over her honor to Trump because she believed the 80-year-old “deserved” it.

The desperate move to please Trump came soon after the U.S. abducted former Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and brought him to New York to face “narcoterrorism” charges.
The Nobel Institute quickly rejected the move, confirming that the prize cannot be “revoked, shared or transferred” after it has been awarded.
In a video capturing the moment Pillay learned she had won this year’s prize for her work in international criminal justice, she mocked Trump, saying: “If you clap a little bit more, I may share this prize with Trump.”
Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office on Wednesday, Trump continued listing reasons he believes he should receive the prestigious prize.
“I settled eight wars, another one is coming. I got all the hostages back. I did things that nobody else has ever done. I’m not bragging. I’m just telling you the facts,” Trump said.
“I’ve stopped maybe the total obliteration of the world because Iran will never have a nuclear weapon, and that’s a positive thing,” he added. “They have a reputation for maybe not giving it to people like me. But whether I get it or not, I have done far more, and I think it would be a great discredit to them. And I’m not saying that out of scorn.”
