Oscar Winner Shares Harsh Take on Husband’s Bombshell Memoir
Catherine Zeta-Jones made her feelings known.
Catherine Zeta-Jones has “no intention” of reading her husband Michael Douglas’s new memoir, One Helluva Ride, she explained on Today.
Zeta-Jones, 57, said on the show, “As much as I love my husband, when I’m tired at night, I have no intention of reading about him. At all. But everyone else should.”
In his new book, Douglas, 82, makes several bombshell admissions, including an alleged affair with his Romancing the Stone co-star Kathleen Turner in the 1980s. Jones said she has too much going on to read the account.

She also told The View, “Look, I mean, I finished the third season of Wednesday. Seven months, came straight to London. Started Kill Jackie promotion. Went to Bilbao, Spain, [for] Kill Jackie promotion. Came to New York only to see you girls, of course. I don’t need to go home and read about my husband.”

“I opened up and mentioned the book to expose the fact that Kathleen Turner and I had an affair when we were making Romance,” Douglas said on Jimmy Kimmel Live. “Catherine was seven years old at the time, right? And wouldn’t know her husband for, you know, 25 years ahead. So I think she’s had to accept the fact that with having this kind of age difference, you may have had a life before you ever seen her for the first time.”
Zeta-Jones told The View that she might actually read it, despite her previous declaration that she had “no intention.”
“I’m going to read it. I’m going to have that [when] I’m finished. I can sit down and read it. I know he worked really hard on it, and he’s really proud of it. And it’s part of a legacy of a great, great career, great guy, and I happen to be married to him,” she said on the show.
The View co-host Ana Navarro said the chapter about her first meeting with Douglas may be of particular interest to her, as it “brought tears to the eyes because it’s so beautiful.”
Zeta-Jones joked, “Maybe I should read it when I go home!”

In one passage, Douglas writes of the moment he first fell in love with Jones, after seeing her on screen in The Mask of Zorro. As the story goes, Douglas told the actress on their first meeting that he would be the father of her children one day.
Zeta-Jones confirmed the detail.
It was “a little much,” she said. “Usually, people’s reaction is, ‘Aw.’ I go, ‘No, no, no, no, no. You just think about that for one minute.’ You just met the guy. You’ve heard a lot about him. You’ve read a lot about him, and everything is true.”
Still, she added, “Twenty-six years on, and I’m a lucky lady.”
