Who (Allegedly) Said It?
It's time to play Name That Goon! Rod Blagojevich vs. Tony Soprano.
Hands on buzzers: One's a trash-talking thug trying to stay one step ahead of the law. The other was played by James Gandolfini. Can you identify the speaker of the ten quotes below?
1. "Unless I get something real good...shit, I'll just send myself, you know what I'm saying."
2. "What the fuck am I, a toxic person or something?"
3. "Log off, that "cookies" shit makes me nervous!"
4. "They're not willing to give me anything except appreciation. Fuck them."
5. "You got no fuckin' idea what it's like to be number one. Every decision you make affects every facet of every other fucking thing."
6. "I've got this thing and it’s fucking golden, and I'm just not giving it up for fuckin' nothing. I'm not gonna do it. And I can always use it. I can parachute me there."
7. "That motherfucker's full of shit. He's shaking me down."
8. "Our recommendation is fire all those fucking people, get 'em the fuck out of there..."
9. "I could have made a larger announcement but wanted to see how they perform by the end of the year. If they don't perform, fuck 'em."
10. "Jesus Christ! The money I've been dropping in here, I could've bought a fuckin' Ferrari."
Answers:
Tony Soprano: 2, 3, 5, 7, 10
Governor Blagojevich: 1, 4, 6, 8, 9

Maybe this'll wake up some of the Democrat zombies to smell what's been rotting in their corner.
Oh yeah! He is soooo indicative of the Democrats. See, the problem isn't math an science teaching in America. It is logic! Thank you so much for illustrating how lazy and stupid this country has become. May I use you as an example in the future? Incredible insight there dude!
Huh, you got me stumped on this one. I thought Rod Blagojevich was responsible for the 'toxic person' comment. My mistake. Of course, now he is a toxic person, so maybe I wasn't as confused as I thought.
He needs about 10 fuckin' years of "hard Time" the arrogant prick.
I don't have any arguments as to whether or not this demonstrates the correctness of either the democrats or republicans. I do say this is a come-uppance for the city of Chicago which, for far too long, behaved as if it were the State of Illinois and everywhere else was just tax revenue. And this arrest comes as no surprise since most of us in the state, especially the "downstaters" have been wondering how we ended up so close to an economic meltdown in only the term of one governor. We have sat back and watched while important services have been shut down, and state parks closed, all in the name of budget cuts. In the mean time the governor behind it all refused to live in the provided residence, maintaining a fleet of four jets to take him from Chicago to his meetings. We knew something else was going on. I am so happy that other officials decided to prove it.
People of Chicago. The Downstate regions are not the wilderness, and we are not ignorant hicks down here. We just enjoy living somewhere where you know that you have made it to the next town because you drove through the country to get there. We like taking slow walks at night without worrying about who is waiting for us around the corner. We like less expensive housing, lower property taxes, and back yards you can play kick ball in. We like living in an area where murder is a notable exception to the rule. And our "wild animals" are usually not armed and dangerous.
It is time for us to elect another "downstater" to the office of governor. With apologies to the President-elect, being from Chicago and politically active should be considered automatically suspicious. After all, this is an area best known historically for its well established Mafia. You don't expect us to really believe that they have gone away, do you?
Excellent. Very funny. I am a Chicagoan and a Sopranos fan. Got every one right. Looks like Rod got everyone wrong. You watch though, he'll do very little if any time.
If politicians talked like that on the campaign trail things would definitely CHANGE.
Mr. Sarlin:
It's been a while since I've laughed so much over my morning coffee. Your lead-in was too funny. I'm still laughing mao.

It is no doubt that there is political corruption in Chicago, but there is political corruption in Illinois as a whole. Don't think that the corruption isn't in downstate Illinois. The greed and corruption has seeped through the entire state.
We are all ashamed and upset at what has happened. I mean we may about this and this particular post was pretty funny but the truth is that this has happened far too many times, it is really upsetting. It too the point that people who want to be politically active have to be wary of the machine cause we all know it exists.
But let's not be naive, this political corruption has happened and still happens throughout America...not just Chicago, IL. This entire year has been filled with scandals and corruption from political leaders across this country. But Rod has taken the cake....we knew that he would be arressted eventually but we didn't know that he was doing this kind of stuff. This is incredible! I still can't believe he was so brazen and so blatantly stupid....He doesn't give a damn about the citizens of IL....he needs to resign
Things are just as bad in Nevada, they just havent been caught yet. Just before Nevada elected our Govenor, Congressman Gibbons was drinking in a bar and then forced himself on a woman. Then men in suits swiftly parashuted into Nevada and discredited the woman. Gibbons went on to win the election. Now his wife is divorcing this man. The state is a total mess. Worse than ever. I wish we had someone investigation our Govenor. Gonzales sacked our only hope for justice.

Why are you so bitter towards Chicagoans and blaming them for electing Blago? He's Governor to the STATE. I think it's people like you who create such a dividing line. Chicagoans have lost services too. And believe it or not we enjoy quiet walks in our safe neighborhoods and even have large backyards. Come on up some time and see for yourself.
@lolagib
Of course corruption is everywhere, especially in those cities with Chicago connections. One of those is not too far away from where I live. We like to call it "Little Chicago."
But I stand by my claims of the superiority complex of Chicago itself. I still remember the complaints that were offered when Jim Edgar, a downstater, was elected governor. He wasn't from Chicago, therefore he couldn't be governor. And it hasn't escaped our attention that most of the cutbacks and closings are occurring in the downstate regions. You know, out here in the wilderness where there isn't anything of importance. Gotta save all that money for Chicago. They get more money for their transit system, and we lose picnic areas and educational sites. Not to mention funds for silly things like domestic violence shelters, food programs for the needy, and the like.
This attitude was perfectly exemplified by an individual at a party a friend of mine attended when he was visiting in Chicago. The woman went into shock when she found out where he was from. Her comment: "Do you mean to tell me that you live down there with all those animals!?" He told me later he was afraid to ask her to explain, so to this day we aren't sure what animals we are actually living with. Maybe she meant the deer that walked through my backyard, ate the flowers by the mail box, and then walked on down the street toward the next house. They had better flowers.
@ saja08
yes there are times when chicagoans do feel that our city is more important or relevant than the burbs or other locations downstate. but that feeling is also exemplified by many citizens downstate against Chicago....many ppl who live outside of Chicago make many negative statements about our city and our citizens. Basically, what I am saying is that it goes both ways, there is a negativity that occurs back and forth and to be honest, it really needs to stop...
I am not saying you personally need to stop it but I am saying that the citizens of Illinois need to stop the cattiness. Becasue while we are arguing back and forth about what city/neighborhood is better, there have been certain individuals in the local government (the Mayor) and the state government (Blago) that have been getting over on us.
Oh and just one more thing. I can tell you, the money that you think "we get"....the citizens of Chicago don't see it at all. We have the highest taxes of any other city in America, the county is always broke but yet they still want to make huge budget cuts. I don't understand why they don't give back the money that they are always stealing from us I'm sure we would have a huge surplus then!
What happened to the comment of EastCoastBias which was on here earlier today??
Now I'm curious, what did EastCoastBias say? (East Coaster too, of course)
I think the article was really funny -- although I didn't score 10/10 -- and I'm happy that in New York State we didn't have that kind of problem. We had different ones...
I totally agree that everyone needs to quit blaming one area or the other because it is the elected officials doing this, but the key word is ELECTED. If people would open their eyes to who they are electing and not just follow the herd we may be better off.
Thank you.
