Wow, Look Who Plays World of Warcraft
Stars like Jimmy Fallon, Mila Kunis, and Vin Diesel are among the 11 million fans obsessed with World of Warcraft. VIEW OUR GALLERY of the A-list of Azeroth.
With more than 11 million subscribers, World of Warcraft is the most popular massively multiplayer online role-playing game, or MMORPG, of all time—and with a live-action film adaptation by Spider-Man director Sam Raimi on the way, the fantasy game is about to go even more mainstream. To celebrate WoW’s upcoming fifth anniversary, the game is now invading the print universe with World of Warcraft: The Magazine. Among those 11 million-plus are many celebrities who are drawn to WoW—and many others who are cited as big fans—a place where they can escape the lights on the red carpet and instead anonymously navigate a world called Azeroth. Stars like Macaulay Culkin and former Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling are particularly outspoken about their fanaticism. And WoW’s creators aren’t oblivious to the celebrity attention: They’ve hidden easter eggs in the game and avid fans can spot Haris Pilton, Shauly Pore, and Caregive Ophera Windfrey playing the game as well. VIEW OUR GALLERY of Azeroth’s famous fans.

For the Horde!

WOW sucks. Give me my friend back you pathetic piece of role playing heroin. The game doesn't even accurately depict swordplay. Never understood how games like it get people so hooked. At least Oblivion and other RPGs are a mixture of gaming genres, but even then I'm able to turn it off after playing a few weeks straight. The server should be turned off a few hours a day at least to give these people back their lives.

If you want to check out how normal WoW gamers live their lives, check out Second Skin! It is the first ever documentary about WoW players. And it is going on sale on DVD today at www.secondskinfilm.com

That so called documentary is a complete and utter lie. It was created with the express idea of reflecting negatively on the mmo community. Neither myself nor any mmo gamer I have met has a life like those depicted in that film. In a word, that film is bullshit.

Wow, look who doesn't give a freaking crap about WOW or who plays it -- me!

Well thanks for reading the article and contributing nothing

My feelings on WoW is that it's an amazing game with dedicated staff working hard to ensure that everyone gets a good experince. that being said I haven't touched the game since it first came out and I level'd a couple of night elves to 60. This game requires too much of a commitment to be relatively successfull at it. When doing a raid requires that you get 40 people to devote at least 5 hours at one time that's too much.

What you just said really dates you ya know. Level cap is 80 now, going to be 85 in the next xpac, and there are 10 & 20 man raids now along with innumerable number of changes to make the end-game more accessible to casual players. Still Wow is a time and money sink, like any other hobby.

It's more like a bad habit for some than a hobby. My hobbies get me out in the sun and exercising instead of trapping me inside and making me cancel all plans for Fri and Sat like one of my friends does on his raid nights. I play games too, but not on a schedule and if something comes up I have no problem putting down the controller.

I'm still stuck on level 7 of Super Mario Bros 3. Help!

Except that WoW isn't gaming . . .
Reason
I was an EQ addict for several years and, while I'm still an avid gamer and WoW looks great, I just can't do another MMO. The amount of time you have to dedicate can really suck your life away.

[walks off grumbling] I like Hello Kitty Island Adventure a lot more than this stuff.
Thank you.
