Teddy's JFK Theory
Wally McNamee / Corbis
The day his brother was shot in Dallas, Ted Kennedy had to tell his father the news, and wondered who was behind it. Case Closed: Oswald and the Assassination of JFK author Gerald Posner reports.
It was 12:45 in Washington D.C. on November 22, 1963. Teddy Kennedy, who had been a senator for less than a year, was presiding over the Senate, a thankless clerical job assigned to junior members. The chambers were almost deserted, but a few senators were debating a mind-numbing bill about federal library services. It was nearly time to break for lunch when the Senate’s press liaison officer, Richard Reidel, ran in out of breath, his face drained of color. Reidel bumped into Florida Senator Spessard Holland. He whispered to Holland the news that JFK had been shot in Dallas. Holland, who had leaned over to hear the message, bolted upright and his mouth opened in surprise. Reidel looked up to the podium where Teddy sat, signing some photographs for his staff to send to well-wishers in Massachusetts. He strode determinately up to Teddy, leaned over, and said, "The most horrible thing has happened. It's terrible, terrible.”
"What is it?" Teddy asked, looking up.
"Your brother. Your brother the president. He's been shot."
Teddy gasped. His body instinctively jerked backward in his seat. “No! How do you know?”
“It’s on the ticker. Just came in on the ticker.”
The man who had spent much of his life getting laughs for his role as the baby brother must have known intrinsically that Jack’s death permanently changed his standing and role in the family.
Teddy scrunched his papers, grabbed them with one hand, and without saying another word, sprinted from the Senate chamber. Years later he would later tell a friend that he remembered only some of the next several hours, it all seemed a surreal blur. In fact, he ran down the Capitol’s stairs debating with an aide whether they should take the subway or sprint back to his nearby office. Teddy didn’t initially know if Jack was dead or alive, or if the assassin who had shot his brother was part of a larger plot against the government or the Kennedys in particular. He wanted to make certain that his family was safe. Before he left the Senate, he bumped into CBS newsman Roger Mudd. Teddy was silent. “I don’t know anything. I just heard,” Mudd told him.
Milton Gwirtzman, an aide, took his black Mercedes to drive Teddy at high speed from the Capitol to the senator’s Georgetown home. There, as he had in the Senate building before leaving, he tried in vain to find a working phone line. Washington’s telephone system was so overstressed after the news broke of the president’s shooting that it had crashed. In a pre-cellphone era, the inability to make or receive calls heightened the fears that something larger and more nefarious was in the works.

Teddy was desperate to reach Bobby. Bobby would know what to do. It took almost an hour before he got through to Bobby’s Hickory Hill home in a Virginia suburb. Bobby had himself been told about Jack’s shooting in a call from the Kennedy brothers’ archrival, FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover. Hoover’s call had been cold and formal: “I have news for you. The president’s been shot. It’s believed to be fatal. I’ll call you back when I find out more.”
Now it was Teddy’s turn to get the hard news. "He's dead," Bobby said bluntly. "You'd better call your mother."
With his sister Eunice, Teddy left for Andrews Air Force Base, where Air Force One was flying in from Dallas with JFK’s coffin, the blood-splattered Jacqueline, and the new president, LBJ. (Teddy was too sick to attend Eunice’s memorial service when she died this year on August 11.) From there, Teddy and Eunice took a jet to Otis Air Force Base in Massachusetts to join the family. At Hyannis Port, it was Teddy who delivered the crushing news to his ailing 75-year-old father, the man whose life had been dedicated to making one of his sons president.
Sunday, two days after the assassination, JFK’s coffin was carried on a horse-drawn caisson to the U.S. Capitol to lie in state. That same morning in Dallas, nightclub owner Jack Ruby shot and killed JFK’s suspected assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald, in the basement of the Dallas Police Department. Throughout that day and night, hundreds of thousands of ordinary citizens lined up in Washington to view the president’s guarded casket. On Monday, November 25, dignitaries and heads of state from over 90 countries attended the state funeral.
Three days after that funeral, the Kennedys gathered at Hyannis Port for what was expected to be a somber Thanksgiving. Over that weekend, Teddy stayed up with friends one night, drinking and swapping bawdy tales about the party times with Jack. The next morning, his children's governess quit, confiding to Rita Dallas, Joe Kennedy's nurse, that she was appalled by Teddy's behavior. Dallas tried unsuccessfully to convince her that it was all part of a traditional Irish wake and that she should stay.
Of course, it was more than just grieving for Jack. The ninth of nine children, Teddy’s role in the family had been that of the court jester, the jokester who entertained friends and acquaintances with stories and jokes. The man who had spent much of his life getting laughs for his role as the baby brother must have known intrinsically that Jack’s death permanently changed his standing and role in the family.
Teddy looked to Bobby for guidance on what and who had killed their brother (I wrote a book about the subject, Case Closed). For decades, the official Kennedy family account was that Bobby was so devastated by his brother’s death that whenever he was pressed by colleagues as to why he wasn’t helping more into the investigation, he responded blandly, “Jack's gone and nothing is going to bring him back.” But thousands of previously classified documents that were released in the late 1990s show the real story was significantly more complex. Bobby’s pain was compounded by guilt—what had happened in Dallas was precisely what he was overseeing to happen in Havana to Castro. It was RFK, who, as attorney general, was the driving force behind the secret plot to assassinate Castro. On the very day that JFK was murdered, CIA agents had met with a disaffected Cuban official in Paris and delivered to him a pen filled with poison with which he was supposed to kill Castro. Bobby was wracked with guilt that Castro had learned of the Kennedy’s plots against him and used Oswald, a pro-Castro activist, to turn the tables in Dallas.
• The Daily Beast's Complete Kennedy Coverage: Tributes, Photos, and VideosBobby hid any information about the plots against Castro from the Warren Commission. And he also did not tell Teddy, who would not find out about them for more than a decade, when Senate hearings finally disclosed the truth. By the spring of 1964, months before the Warren Commission’s report was finished, Bobby had dispatched his own investigators and concluded that Oswald, though an avid Castro supporter, had acted alone and that Jack Ruby was a self-appointed vigilante. None of RFK's targets—the Mob, union boss Jimmy Hoffa, or Castro—had anything to do with the Dallas murder. That’s all the information he passed to Teddy. The youngest Kennedy had no reason to be brought into the highly classified intrigues that his older brothers had hatched.
Teddy had initially suspected the Mob in Jack’s death. But when Bobby concluded quietly that it was Oswald alone, he followed suit. After that, he did not need any confirmation that one man, armed with a cheap gun, could alone change the course of history. But he learned the lesson harshly once again, less than five years after JFK’s assassination.
On the night of June 4, 1968, when Bobby won the critical California primary in his fight for the Democratic presidential nomination, Teddy was in San Francisco and gave a speech thanking the campaign’s Northern California workers. Returning to his suite at the Fairmont hotel, he and his administrative assistant, Dave Burke, turned on the TV to watch Bobby’s victory speech from Los Angeles.
"Be quiet, be quiet!" someone was screaming on the television, trying to be heard above the pandemonium. "Everyone be quiet!"
"What the hell's going on?" Teddy asked Burke.
"I don't know," Burke said, trying hard to contain his sudden alarm.
"We'd better go there," said Teddy.
Teddy was silent on the private one-hour flight to Los Angeles. The following day, after it was clear Bobby could not be saved, his spokesman Frank Mankiewicz walked out of RFK’s hospital room and spotted Teddy standing in an adjoining, dimly lit bathroom. "I have never, ever, nor do I expect ever, to see a face more in grief," Mankiewicz later recalled.
Teddy’s face said it all. He knew he was now alone. The baby brother was now in charge; two assassins had forced him to become the head of the sprawling Kennedys.

I know that Mr. Posner has written a book intended to debunk "conspiracy theories" about the Kennedy assassination. I accepted the official version until I saw a documentary on the 40th anniversary and there were long interview passages with Ruth Paine, the woman that Oswald's wife and daughters were living with, and in whose garage was found all the physical evidence ever connected to Oswald like the famous photo of hime with a gun. Mrs. Paine also had a role in getting Oswald the job at the Texas Book Depository.
I was struck by how very poised Ruth Paine was. Thirty or forty years ago, I would not have noticed that but over the course of the last 25 years, I've seen myself and family members on video and no one is poised at all. People look like they're being held hostage! I have done some reading about Mrs. Paine and found she had CIA connections through her father (worked at a CIA front), sister (actually worked for CIA) and her husband (family business with CIA connections). Thats a bit much. Oswald also knew a man named Georges de Mohrenschildt who had CIA connections.
With Oswald's background, you'd think the government would have been watching him, not getting him a job overlooking the president's motorcade.
If you read Deconstructing Sammy Davis -- Davis believed the CIA were the assassins. Read the book.
If you read Mr. S (Sinatra's valet) Sinatra believed the mob and Giancolo were behind the assassination. Could they both have been behind the assassination? I believe so, because they both had an agenda. The CIA had failed with the Bay of Pigs (revenge), and Giancolo had been betrayed by Bobby Kennedy with his mob investigations (revenge). Take your pick.
@chicago48
Actually, that's pretty close, though some of the details are different than you describe. Bobby's assassination involved the same elements arranged differently and was far more sinister and secret. We live in a less than ideal world. There's really is no reason for any of it, except human weakness, cowardice, and the insistence that one person or group should Rule...that one person being the assassin's themselves.
Hello, I have seen a 3rd generation of the confiscated video. this was shot at the curb as the limo passed, and it clearly showed Roy Kellerman, pulling a gun turning towards the rear and shooting JFK in the throat. He then turned the gun on John connley, before turning around and facing forward like nothing had happend. The fatal shot from the rear, could not have been fired from LHO, because he was drinking a soda, flirting with the femal cashier at the soda shop, on the ground level. Don't know who delivered the head shot from the rear, but it was an expert. this film footage was sold to Time and Life magazine in 1963, for $200.000, and then copied when discovered in the mid 80s. This is the footage that the government doesn't want the public to see.
The Dallas motorcade and route weren't even planned when Oswald started working at the TBSD.
You'd be well advised to read Case Closed or the more recent Reclaiming History.
According to Arthur Schleslinger, Jr., Robert Kennedy asked CIA Director John McCone if he had killed his brother--asked him in such a way, he said, as a fellow Catholic, that he was certain McCone was telling the truth as far as he knew it. McCone denied that the CIA had done it.
He later checked into the case of Jim Garrison in New Orleans, but determined that Garrison was a "fraud".
Robert Kennedy had his suspicions, like Schlesinger and many other people, and he did attempt to find out about whether there was any truth to the conspiracy stories. As far as i know, he was not able to find evidence to support them.
LBJ seems to have said little about it, but evidently suspected that it had something to do with the CIA and pro-Castro Cubans--the "Murder Incorporated" that was being run against Cuban. Once, he also said that the death of JFK was "divine retribution" for the death of South Vietnamese President Diem, since Kennedy had approved his overthrow.
Well, if the director of an agency that trains people to lie for a living said the CIA didn't do it, then I guess they didn't do it.
When LBJ and Robert Kenendy were talking about these things in the 1960s, how JFK ordered the overthrow of Diem and Robert Kennedy was overseeing the covert war against Castro, these things were not yet publicly known. This was before the Church Committee investigations and the disclosure of the Pentagon Papers, so only a relative handful of people had details like these--and they seem to have had their suspicions that it blew back on JFK somehow.
As I said, I don't know, but the suspicions were real enough.
As addt'l info on the LBJ connection: I've heard from reliable sources thru the years that LBJ was to be in the front seat of the Kennedy limo but made the switch with Connolly at the last minute at the Dallas airport, overheard to say 'I'm not riding in that car wth Kennedy today.' Someone somewhere knows thr truth. I've always expected it would come out when the final brother was gone. Well, the clock started ticking Tuesday. Stay tuned.
That's absolutely fascinating. Do you remember any of these sources?
Funny about LBJ: JFK had had a row with ben Gurion because he refused to give Israel the bomb and wanted a balance of power in the ME.It didn't take long after JFK's assassination for LBJ to start the militarization of Israel.
My own opinion? I don't know.
Thanks for the insight!
I just can't get my head around the idea that a guy like Jack Ruby would do what he did without some external motivating factors. This one thing just makes no sense at all.
You just want to abridge Ruby's and Oswald's 2nd Amendment rights. How else are oddball losers going to make a mark on history?
Posner.
As an avid gun nut and hunter. Nothing you ever write can explain the "Magic" bullet to me. That path and condition of the bullet is IMPOSSIBLE to believe.
Without that, the Lone Gunman Theory falls apart.
The path laid out for the "magic" bullet was based on the assumption that President Kennedy's and Governor Connally's seats were positioned at the same height, one directly behind the other. But that wasn't the case. The President's seat was positioned several inches higher than the Governor's, and was several inches to the right. When those adjustments are taken into account, this is the result:
http://mcadams.posc.mu.edu/sbt-faa.jpg
As an avid gun nut and hunter, this should speak directly to you and show the truth. What motivated Oswald is another story (maybe he was part of a conspiracy). And, who knows, there could have been other shooters who missed. But as for the "magic bullet" theory, it's been debunked 100%.
Personally, I'm not given to believing in conspiracy theories. I think they are the domain of people who want to believe that there's some mysterious, invisible, guiding hand or hands at work in the world.
I believe:
1) 9/11 was the work of a bunch of murderously misguided, middle eastern religious zealots.
2) People claiming to have been abducted by aliens are delusional and in need of help.
3) Freemasons are principled believers in democracy much more interested in golf than global domination.
4) Sirhan Sirhan was a troubled, lone gunman.
5) Fluoride is good for your teeth and not much use as a mind control agent.
That said... I can't shake the feeling that something stinks with the Kennedy assassination. It's not based simply on a feeling either. Don't get me wrong here, I'm not a gun-nut. I'm a liberal who grew up using rifles to hunt. I had a bolt-action rifle similar to the one that LHO used. The likelihood of getting a headshot from that distance on anything other than the first round fired is extremely low. The act of cycling the bolt on a gun of that type always takes the barrel at least slightly off-target requiring rapid reacquisition. The odds of getting a headshot and having the body jerk back toward the shooter is even lower.
I'm not saying that it was a conspiracy. I'm just saying that it smells like one to me. We'll never really know for sure.
I agree with you on everything (especially enjoying 3) except for 5. Fluoridation is unequivocally a commie plot.
You might find the following interesting:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billie_Sol_Estes
No one wanted to investigate LBJ at the time because he was then the President and had already had a number of suspicious deaths occur that were politically convenient to him, even without the power of the Presidency.
Unless one believes than an action was done alone, every nefarious activity involves a conspiracy. The real question is; which version is the most correct.
Pinko,
And Oswald took four bullets to take on the Secret Service, Dallas Police, FBI, Mil Intel, and so forth. You think he might have taken more? And he forgot to take his clip that day? And the synchopation of the shots was (supposedly) BANG.....BangBang. Not possible with a bolt action rifle. And the tonality of the shots was different (different caliber weapons?). And oh, by the way, he forgot to take his pistol? Had to go home and get it?
The garbage we are expected to believe is the most incredible part of the story.
Contrary to what anyone says, Oswald was not a crack shot. Prior to JFK's death, LHO took a shot at General Edwin Walker in Dallas. He was a stationary target in a window 1/4 the distance LHO supposedly had to JFK. And he missed.
I have so many books and other literature that I have poured over on the JFK "plots", that I now tend to agree with Pinko. All I can say is it smells, as you can eliminate 80% of all the theories. How can you prove anything, especially now that the trail is so cold, as Anthony Summers always pointed out it would be without anything really new..
I firmly believe that Posner and Bugliosi have not made a good "lone nut" case at all. Posner, in particular, hangs everything on the only witness to identify Oswald, albeit at the 6th floor window, Howard Brennan. Eyewitness accounts are notoriously suspect, especially in this case, and that's all Posner has, just one.
What I believe: More than one shooter, all behind the motorcade. JFK's head wound was from behind, a classic high-powered small entry wound, pushing everything in front of it out, exploding the head to the front. JimPager is right: the shots were too close to gether even for a great shooter with a bolt-action. I can't explain all the eyewitness accounts of the activity on the grassy knoll.
According to a Vanity Fair article a few months ago, more clasified information is being released soon. Maybe that will help. I would love to know everything before I die.
Mr Oswald didn't act alone. Physics dictates this conclusion. Mr Oswald fired from behind the motorcade. A successfull headshot from that angle would have removed most of JFK's face. Instead, what we're left with is images of Mrs Kennedy scrambling over the back of the car trying to retrieve the back of her husband's skull. The round that caused that wound came from the front, where the other shooter was.
Wrong. The Zapruder film clearly shows the FRONT of the president's head coming off, not the back.
...... oh I'm sorry. Didn't mean to yawn.
There are only 2 outcomes in the Kennedy Assassination.
1. It happened fairly close to what the Warren Commision has said.
2. The truth is so damning to the Kennedys that they don't ever want it to come out. I mean if there was a great conspiracy the dems in the CIA would have alrready leaked it to the NY Times years ago. Not to mention Teddy himself would have used it to ride into the Whitehouse.
I think the truth would ruin the Camelot forever and tarnish the hero's in JFK and RFK.
I was 31 when JFK was killed. A day or so later my wife and 2 small kids were visiting my UNCLE (he had made a mint during WW2 in the COAL business and now was a LARGE LANDLORD mostly.) I was sitting in front of his VERY LARGE FIREPLACE staring at the fire. He came into the room and sat down and then asked me "WHAT'S THE MATTER,SON?" I said everybody's sad THE PRESIDENT being shot and all. He put his hand on one of my knees and said "HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT THEY DIDN'T HAVE TO KILL THAT S.O.B." I was shocked. I said what do you mean. He said "DON'T EVER ASK ME TO EXPLAIN WHAT I JUST SAID" then he repeated it again. I never asked him and he never expained. I do know that my family originally came to Western Penna. (where we were at the time) from ARKANSAS and my uncle had business friends and associates in ARKANSAS & TEXAS. I know he spent a lot of time down there after he was sorta retired. I've always wondered "what the hell he mean't"
So now it's clear. Castro killed John through Oswald because of Bobby's plot against him. The mob used Ruby to kill Oswald to have Bobby look the other way on on certain criminal issues, and to keep Oswald from exposing the Bobby/Castro connection. Bobby was killed because Castro still felt threatened, and to send a message to the weakest link, Ted, to drop the plot and keep to domestic matters. Waiter, check please!
Anyone who believes the Lone Gunman Theory has willingly ignored the evidence. Read The Ultimate Sacrifice -Lamar Waldron for the most recent and convincing theory. The military industrial culture of empire breeds secrecy and is killing democracy. Wake up.
Anyone who argues the JFK assassination with more than a 70/30 conviction is a closed-minded zealout, which Posner certainly qualifies as...in addition to being one of the ugliest human beings on the planet. There is just to much conflicting evidence. The "likelyhood" is that Oswald acted either alone or in cahoots, but we will never know. If there ever was a smoking gun it disappeared long ago.
Conspiracy Theories are fun and fascinating no matter what.
They're the best when it comes to murder.
Marilyn Monroe's death is one of the very best, tho I love to read and hear about the governmant conspiracy about the moon landing.
The conspiracy videos about 9/11 are absolutely fantastic.
Who really killed Martin Luther King will for me always trump the reason for Princess Di's death, but there it is.
I'm not a UFO, Roswell and Area 51 follower, but how many millions follow those "cover-up" conspiracies?
I'm not making fun of the any thinking surrounding any possibility of conspiracy, especially the JFK assassination. (I seriously read and watched almost everything about it for years. And years.)
Old and new theories are great stories.
Great stories.
Posner's article (Ask Tina Brown) will surely prime the pump of conspiracy curiosity.
GHW Bush.
Zapata Oil (which he owned), Operation Zapata (Code-name for the Bay of Pigs invasion).
He didn't have any CIA experience before being put in charge of the CIA by Nixon? Why would one put a failed politician with NO intelligence experience in charge of the US's intelligence?
Why did E. Howard Hunt call and demand $2million from NIXON while IN JAIL because of a simple break in? E. Howard Hunt, ex-CIA operative involved with the Bay of Pigs.
Nixon... who had been brought down by Kennedy, unexpectedly. Nixon, who had various stories as to where he was when he heard Kennedy was shot (and who sources said was in Dallas... as was Bush... as was Hunt... on the day of the assassination).
Watch the footage... before they turned the corner to the Plaza, people were lining the street 10 deep, yet when in the Plaza, there were very few people. Watch before going into the Plaza how Secret Service Agents were taken off of the car and only ONE was left. Notice the President traveling in an open car... UNPRECEDENTED... WITH NO SECRET SERVICE PROTECTION.
Governor Connally, in the car with Kennedy... a Democrat... his story to the Warren Commission was different than his story to reports after being shot. His Warren Commission story does not match the video. Connally... who was made Sec. of the Treasury under NIXON... a die-hard REPUBLICAN.
The CIA, the GOP, and the State of Texas... all complicit in the Kennedy assassination. Lone gunman my ass. There is absolutely NO WAY he could have killed Kennedy from where he did. Especially with there being reported MANY more than just the 3 shots... and with everyone in the Plaza pointing to the grassy knoll.
PLEASE research before forming an opinion. PLEASE think for yourself and listen to NO ONE else to form your opinions... including me. Perhaps I am full of shit... but you'll never know until you look at ALL the facts.
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4330031689287456187
I agree with you about looking at all the facts. The video starts off well pointing out the impossibility of Oswald being the sole shooter since he was firing from behind the limo and the final fatal shot came from the from striking JFK in the right front side of the head and exiting on the left rear. But, IMO the latter part seems to go off the rails in many ways, although parts of it seem plausible.
I find it hard to accept that it would be some sort of plot by the Nazis. I guess mainly because Joseph P. Kennedy was a Nazi sympathizer and an anti-semite. His sons who went into politics did so because of his manipulations and urgings. And Kennedy, Sr. was involved in politics in his own right being a supporter of FDR and an ambassador. He may have pissed off somebody more powerful than himself when he said that he thought democracy was dead in England and maybe in America as well. All in all that was a good link and it's the responsibility of every individual to look further than the convenient slop that's thrown out by those paid to keep the masses dumbed down.
You bring up OLE MAN KENNEDY,,there's the KEY. Even today there are still people who remember WHAT HE STOOD FOR at the beginning of WW2. There are still men who remember that he was snatching up the stock for pennies on the dollar,,from men that were ruined and jumping out of buildings. REVENGE FOR WHAT HE STOOD FOR AND DID. Teddy knew better than to make it to THE WHITE HOUSE.
Bush's oil campany was Arbusto, (Bush is spanish), but don't let that stop you. You're on a roll!
I was in the fourth grade in 1961 when JFK was sworn in. In a discussion of the event, my teacher, now long since passed, told us she had heard people say how dangerous it was for JFK to have picked LBJ as VP. She said people were saying that "Texas interests" would assassinate JFK making the Texan president. You have to remember back then Texas, historically the country's largest state had just been replaced by Alaska as the largest geographical state. Texans were crestfallen. All the jokes back then were about Texans and how large things were in Texas. The biggest houses, the biggest cars, diamonds, etc. I will never forget her saying that to the class. It was the first thing I thought of two years later when we heard the news that happened, in Texas day none of us will ever forget.
Amazing!! People seriously still think Oswald was responsible. The Fluoride in our water must be working.......Who had the most to gain????????? Not hard to figure out people!!!!! Wake up!!!!! http://www.rense.com/general40/thewnk.htm
Godspeed Teddy!!!!
Fluoride causes assassinations!
So many times we've sat around the TV and watched motorcades, services, memorials etc. for members of this family. Such a huge footprint left by this family on the country.
Before his death,He gave a speech to try to uncover the secret societys in our government. But then was soon killed after.Go to (youtube) watch the video of the speech.(JFK warned us). JFK was going for the heart of the republican party and its power structure the secret societys. The skull and bones men Bush41 is in that society and his son Bush43 if JFK was'nt killed america would be a different country. There would be no Iraq war which is a secret society war.The freemason secret society has been in rule for decades,JohnQuincy Adams who ran on a anti-mason party ticket and won his seat to the U.S. house of representives said quote Freemasonry is deceptive and fraudlent.its promises is light-its performance is darkness. For the last 8 years we have witnessed this darkness with Bush43 the skull and bones men. When are you going to stop pretending they don't exsist.JFK himself tryed to warn us Conspircy you say,I think "not" Liz Cheny on Tv has been talking about the New Global Order that her and her father and Bush pushed for the last 8 years. They are telling us to our face what they did and what they plan to do.JFK knew what was going happened and tryed to stop it. But was soon murdered after and he asked for our help- our help you and me.They are hiding right in front of your face.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-kX0sLFXR0Q&feature=related
Oh yeah,,LET'S JUST BLAME IT ON "THE MASONS" WOW!!!
Hey can we please have headlines that are actually related to the article? I was expecting to actually here what Senator Kennedy actually thought about the murder of his brother and that was either vague or not even present.
Well, we gave conspiracy theorists a chance to trot out their wheezy, boring plots as comments--doesnt that make it all worthwhile?
You're right. There has never been a conspiracy for anything. Especially since Kennedy said there were secret societies out for power before he died.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-kX0sLFXR0Q&feature=related
If one seeks the truth, and if one can stand the truth, then evaluate the evidence, and when the evidence clicks together piece by piece to begin to form a logical picture of what purports to be reality, eventually the truth will emerge. And above all don't exclude or include ideas and items which others assert through political motivation.
The "official" version of the events has been debunked and evidence tampered with almost immediately after JFK was declared officially dead.
I have a hard time believe ANYTHING this Posner guy says. I wonder why?
I see the built-in conspiracy theorists have taken over the comments section. Leaving them out, this is a remarkable historical retelling from the perspective of Ted Kennedy. I really enjoyed this exceptionally well written article by Mr. Posner! What Mr. Posner has concisely written is that it was clear that Teddy Kennedy had to take on the mantle of his brothers and tried the best he could. But taking on the mantle of two powerful brothers was too much for him - for any man.
Has anyone bothered to tell Joan Kennedy her no good husband is rotting in hell with the other Kennedy sewer rats?
Will she be sitting with her children at the funeral? Or will she have to sit 3 paces behind Vicki?
Joan Kennedy's later years have been shaped by chronic alchoholism, which had appeared during her marriage to Ted Kennedy. The alcoholism escalated with sporadic, uneven sobriety, repeated DWI arrests, court-ordered rehabilitation and return to drinking - ultimately leading to kidney damage, the possibility of dialysis and protracted complications from increasingly strict guardianship. In 2005, Bennett Kennedy was hospitalized with a concussion and a broken shoulder after being found lying in a Boston street near her home. In July 2004, her oldest son Edward Moore Kennedy, Jr. had been appointed her legal guardian; in 2005 her children were granted temporary guardianship.
Will poor Joan be allowed to sit with her children at the funeral?
Or will she have to sit 3 paces behind?
Such a mean spirited post
from "poor" MissSpanky.
