The opportunity to promote her new book lured the normally media-shy Prejean back to the spotlight for an appearance on Larry King Live on Wednesday. When King started asking her about her recent lawsuit settlement in the wake of her sex tape reveal and de-crowning as Miss California USA, Prejean repeatedly said King was being “inappropriate” before stripping off her microphone and sitting in stony silence on live television. If only she’d learned the value of keeping mum earlier in her career…

I'd argue that. I don't find her the least bit beautiful. She's a stereotypical Barbie blonde. You want beatuy? Take a look at Mary Louise Parker, Nicole Kidman, Scarlett Johansen, Lee Le Sobieski, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jennifer Anniston, etc.

One thing sure is obvious, celebrity comes at a price. Are these just you and I shown in the light of tabloids or are these people drawn to this theatre of absurd by their personality?
I have never heard of a really good book on the nature of celebrity. The TV show "Lie to Me" that purports a whole science in detection of lies. What about the more complicated psychology of celebrity?

I don't think she is that pretty, without makeups and bleached blond hair, she is nothing. And the problem was not about the anti-gay marriage speech, I think it has a lot to do with the way she talks, comes off bitchy maybe from that overly whte fake teeth.

My sophmore roommate in college was a girl who at 19 had already had a nose job, breast implants,and liposuction. She had hair extensions, fake tan, artificial nails and opaque blue contacts. Three years later she represented our state in the Miss America contest.
Pagaent whores will do anything for that crown.

Carrie Prejean seems to suffer from the same delusions of her hero Sarah Palin. Both equate the backlash from their words as some sort of squelching of free speech. They both have the right to say whatever they want. What they don't seem to comprehend is that we have the right to disagree and draw our own conclusions about what sort of people they are based on their loudly articulated beliefs. Carrie's Grandfather did not fight in vain. In America, she is free to put her 3" heels in her mouth if she so pleases. Just don't complain when you are called out for being intolerant.

I find this somewhat entertaining. Not the least bit important, but a real world theatre of the absurd where none of this really matters and nobody is getting hurt. Ms. Prejean has the same outlook as millions of Americans but you combine that sort of silly bigotry with beauty pageants, shameless self promoting comb over relics from the 80's, religious zealotry, a right wing political body looking for heroes in the narrowest of margins and a media with so many worthwhile things to do but so little will to do it and you get this enormously comical farce.

I think judging is a real sense of power, negative power, an ugly sort of power, but a real power. A power to disrupt a Larry King show, but not the kind of progressive power, which grows, and is organic in nature.
Sort of like the difference between real and fake breasts. The real ones are soft, the fake ones are hard.

I think it is just the culture. There so many young women who just act so condescending, disrespectful, but more than that, there is usually mild sexual overtones that are accusatory.
It is almost unbelievable, unless you see it for yourself.
Larry King looked like he was shocked, but it seems to be everywhere, in white evangelistic dominant areas.
You even see it in the grocery store, clerks refusing to speak, and with all kinds of makeup on, they are just horrible. I use the self serve check out now.
It is not about brains, I think it is about power.
People, not just women, create conflict, so they can gain power over someone.
Women, who have a little bit of power, and take it for all it is worth, tend to do it this way. It is pretty horrible.
For someone so beautiful, you wonder why they have to be so mean.They have the power anyway.

I know what you mean doreen and you´re right. In Carrie´s particular case, it´s just that she was thrown onto the circus ring and was forced to perform. She and everybody else around her, realized that this was the opportunity of a lifetime and they are going to milk it for all it´s worth. She will be in the spotlight for quite some time to come and those that think she´s just a dumb blond, all I can say is, you´re so very wrong!!! This girl is very smart and the camera loves her. I´m sure she has political aspirations also and we´ll get to see her evolve into whatever the opportunities allow her to. She definitely belongs to the conservatives though and, because of that, she will be harassed beyond belief. She was rude to Larry King and there´s no excuse for that. I hope she can learn from her mistakes, cause I know, deep down , she´s a good girl. Too bad those liberals will never admit to seeing that also, and that makes them so much worse than any of their vile comments!!!!

The woman is just damn stupid. To make a Miss America pageant answer (in which she coined her own phrase, might I add) a moral crusade is annoying at best. I disagree with limiting marriage to "opposite" couples, but it's the part when she says, "in MY America" that does not sit well with me.
And then there's the hypocrisy. Believe in the glory of Christ and all that crap when she's obviously incredibly vain and has multiple sex tapes out.
