For anyone who still gets their news from The Daily Show in this post-Jon Stewart era, Wednesday night’s coverage of this week’s Republican presidential primary debate on Fox Business Network was even more informational than usual. And it was all thanks to correspondent Desi Lydic, who took the reins of a new segment called “What the Actual Fact?”
Over the course of the segment, Lydic rated Ben Carson “false,” or as he calls it “autobiographical,” for his assertion that the jobless rate goes up with the minimum wage. Donald Trump’s suggestion that he knows Vladimir Putin because they both appeared on the same episode of 60 Minutes—shot at different times on separate continents—got a “wrong but adorable” rating, “like a puppy snorting cocaine.”
And Carly Fiorina, who for some reason said she did not meet Putin in a green room even though that’s exactly what she told Jimmy Fallon earlier this fall, was hit with a straight-up “Rachel Dolezal.”
