Buzzfeed
The era-defining media outlet is closing down its once-famed news arm, CEO Jonah Peretti announced.
The BuzzFeed union has authorized a newsroom strike, saying workers don’t feel valued.
In an email obtained and reviewed by Confider, Mark Schoofs informed staffers that the news operation will “once again shrink in size.”
Company bosses are investigating the allegations, but employees found their decision to delete the email from staff inboxes to be both “disappointing and frustrating.”
“We decided as a unit that we were willing to fight for a solution that would let us share the impact... rather than having to say goodbye to a full fifth of our co-workers.”
Some staffers, including executives, will see a nearly 25-percent pay cut. CEO Jonah Peretti confirmed he will not take a salary as the crisis continues.
The media outlet accused the tech billionaire of harassing and intimidating a reporter for printing unguarded comments Musk made accusing a critic of being a pedophile.
