There are many privileges that come with being president of the United States. One, apparently, is knowing before the rest of us whether Jon Snow is truly dead.
President Obama has been given advance copies of “Game of Thrones” season six, showrunner David Benioff has confirmed. We normals, meanwhile, will have to wait til April 24th to see the new episodes.
“When the commander-in-chief says, ‘I want to see advance episodes,’ what are you gonna do?” Benioff said at the season six premiere.
This is not the first time the president has requested advance copies of an HBO series. He also got early access to previous seasons of “GOT,” and to the first season of “True Detective.”
Fans of “Game of Thrones,” which ended with (this spoils nothing) a cliffhanger, have demanded that the president share his wealth of information. One person has even gone as far as posting an online petition on the White House’s official website.
“As we all know,” the petition reads, “winter is coming and Jon Snow may be our last hope to defend us against the White Walkers. It has come to our attention that President Obama has privileged information concerning the whereabouts of Jon Snow. All Americans deserve to know this information and thus we demand that President Obama divulge what he knows.”
As of Thursday morning, the petition had received a total of one signature.
